The British Columbia Government created The Small Business Venture Capital Program for early-stage BC-based businesses to offer an incentive to BC residents investing in their company, and help early-stage companies get access to the required capital to facilitate growth in the market.
An EBC is a small business headquartered in the Province of British Columbia. Businesses that qualify for the program are substantially engaged in activities, such as manufacturing and processing, development of clean technologies, destination tourism, advanced commercialization, development of an interactive digital media product, and research and development of proprietary technologies.
The business must be substantially engaged (at least 50% of assets and expenses) in one or more of the qualifying activities.
